Venue
Union League Club
65 Jackson Blvd., Chicago
Exactly 18 days before Czechoslovakia was created TGM returned to Chicago upon invitation of the Union League Club. He addressed more than 500 guests as the key note speaker at Club’s quarterly meeting. Chicago Tribune addressed Professor Masaryk already as President of the Czecho-Slovak republic.
The paper reported that “Chicago leaders of thought, industry and finance as well as diplomatic and military representation gathered to give a welcome to the responsible executive of a great state that was fighting side by side with America, France and England.”
We could not find a more fitting venue to host the Czech Centennial Gala than the Club’s beautiful historic premises.
